The fight against cancer

Think Tommy Raudonikis OAM and you think toughness. Football legend, heart bypass, cancer fights, family tragedy – but through all this – he has been a fighter and strength personified. But now, he wants his latest battle to help other people with cancer and he’s calling for a team to take on the greatest fight there is.

Tommy knows how to get back up after being tackled. For this epic footballer who has faced so many challenges, 2014 came with a new blow. Tommy was told by a Sydney specialist he had throat cancer.

Now he has a new team on his side. A dedicated multidisciplinary specialist team from the Prince of Wales Hospital are working with Tommy to keep him on the field.

“Right now its game on, I’ve been through radiation day in and day out and after that there is follow up treatments–but Im working to knock this one over and get back to the good things in life.”

Through all of his own life challenges Tommy still wants to make sure that others with cancer get the best care possible and support the Prince of Wales Hospital Foundation appeal for funds for the new Nelune Comprehensive Cancer Care Centre at Randwick.

“This new Centre will make such a difference to patients like me.”
