What started out as a short walk with his beloved west highland terriers became a much longer journey for Charlie.
Last year on the eve of his 65
birthday, Charlie was returning from a walk with his dogs to his house when he suddenly felt shaky and fell over. The very fit football coach from Sydney Grammar knew straight away that something was wrong—he was having a stroke.
He was quickly rushed by ambulance to POWH where he was immediately assessed. He ended up in ICU for three days and then went on to rehab where he began his journey back towards his former strong self.
“The care that I received so quickly certainly meant that my condition didn’t worsen and I am slowly regaining my strength and mobility,” said Charlie.
His wife Carmel also agreed that the care at the Prince of Wales Hospital was outstanding.
“Thanks to the care during his time in ICU and the follow up services after he left the Hospital, my Charlie is well on the way to recovery”
“We are so fortunate to live close to Prince of Wales Hospital—simply one of the finest hospitals in this land,” said Carmel.
