Jason’s story

At just 16 Jason’s whole world came crashing down when he was left a quadriplegic from a diving accident. Initially being treated at a hospital in his home town of Victoria Jason thankfully hasn’t had to spend too much time in hospital since. This also made him feel very apprehensive about coming in to hospital to be treated for a pressure injury – meaning he would have to lay on his stomach for a number of weeks, something he hasn’t done in over 20 years!

On a personal level Jason said he has struggled with his treatment and rehabilitation at times and is so grateful that the team at Prince of Wales Hospital continue to support and encourage him to keep pushing through. He is even more thrilled the Occupational Therapy department were able to build him numerous wedges and splints so that he could continue to operate his business from his hospital bed, allowing him to have some normality.

And although Jason has since spent numerous weeks in hospital recovering, he says “while hospital is not somewhere that I want to be, I really can't fault anyone involved in my care here, my experience at Prince of Wales has been above my expectations.”

The exceptional patient care Jason received wouldn’t be possible without your support. Purchase your Mater Prize Home lottery tickets now to ensure Prince of Wales Hospital and Mater Brisbane can continue to provide this level of care.
